One of the top priorities for Israel is recognition of its diploma degrees by the government of India. Currently, the government of Israel is exploring various agreements in the education sector as Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi is expected to visit Israel in July 2017. The government of Israel is in contact with Ministry of Human Resource Development and is framing various ideas that can be formally taken up during Modi’s visit.

The government of Israel is planning to strengthen the academic ties with India. Ambassador of Israel was of the opinion that Indo-Israel relationship is not merely confined to defense. The government of Israel wants to consolidate the academic ties between the two countries. Therefore, the government is in contact with HRD Ministry of India and is figuring out ideas that will benefit both, with respect to the education sector.

He further explained that Israel is a nation, which has a high number of immigrants from the countries like Argentina, India, Russia, Ethiopia and others. Since most of the people are coming from diverse countries, it is necessary for the government of Israel to adjust the system based on the fact that many people are being educated and coming with degrees from various parts of the country.

Israel Ambassador further expressed that the government is flexible and liberal in the field of education and hoped that India will not be their hardest customer.

Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister of India to visit Israel and the objective is to maintain diplomatic relations between the two countries. With regard to the education sector, more emphasis will be given to colleges and universities rather than high school education.

President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin visited India in November 2016. During his stay in India for eight days, a total number of 15 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between Indian and Israel educational institutions.

As per the suggestions that were given by HRD Ministry, the government of Israel will take up issues like the exchange of foreign students as well as recognition of diploma courses.
