Kashmir University Postpones Exams Due to Heavy Snowfall
One of the officials of Meteorological Department revealed there is a heavy snowfall in the Valley region and other places near Kashmir.
Kashmir University has postponed the examinations scheduled to take place on January 16 & 17, 2017 due to heavy snowfall. However, the varsity did not announce the revised dates of the examinations. Kasmir University has postponed the exams for the second time. Earlier, the varsity had to conduct the exams on January 7 & 8, 2017 but due to inclement weather the varsity had postponed the exams.
One of the officials of the meteorological department revealed there is a heavy snowfall in the Valley region and surrounding places of Kashmir.

On the other hand, administrative activities at Kashmir University have been disrupted due to unscheduled power cuts from the past fifteen days. The erratic power supply has almost affected the academic activities, particularly in science departments. One of the students of the chemistry department mentioned that it has become difficult to plan research works due to unscheduled power cuts and the officials did not specify the reason for the same.

One of the professors of Environmental Science department revealed that voltage fluctuations have increased in the varsity which caused further disturbances. It has become difficult to hold meetings due to harsh weather, lack of electricity and inadequate heating arrangements.
Non-teaching staff claimed that they were unable to punch in biometric attendance due to power cuts. Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Professor Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi stated that they had informed the officials of electricity department and are hopeful that the issue will be sorted out soon.
Additionally, the varsity had also cancelled the winter vacations to compensate the classes lost during the five months of unrest in 2016.
