Panjab University: Department of Education Records Maximum Research Scholars

The Department of Education at Panjab University recorded the highest number of registered scholars. This year, a total number of 374 research scholars enrolled in the Department of Education. Quality Assurance Cell of the varsity disclosed the official data. According to the data, a total number of 2,911 research scholars registered at various departments of the varsity.

The University Grants Commission also awarded special assistance programmes in the thrust areas of educational psychology, education administration, education management and education technology to Department of Education at Panjab University.

Even though the varsity enrolled maximum research scholars, the number of supervisors guiding the students is not at par with it. Therefore, few experts are questioning the quality of research. According to data, 82 supervisors on the campus have been guiding 8-17 research scholars. However, few officials claim the Panjab University has been rated high in terms of the number of citations and research papers.

There are few departments at Panjab University which enrolled only one research scholar and the number of supervisors for one student was two or three.

This year, 66 departments at Panjab University had registered research scholars. Department of Nano-Science, Department of Chinese and Tibetan Studies have enrolled one research student each. On the other hand, Department of Botany, Physical Education, Physics and Chemistry registered more than 100 research scholars.
