Parrikar Expresses Dissatisfaction on Clubbing Goa with UTs on IIT Quota
Parrikar demands for raising state quota to 50% in Goa.
With Goa not being considered as a separate state, Manohar Parrikar, the Defence Minister has raised this as an issue and demanded the raising of the state quote to 50%.
Manohar wants that 50% of the seats at IIT Goa should be reserved for the locals of Goa which is currently being shared with other Union Territories like Daman, Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Parrikar expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the same in front of the new Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar during the inauguration of IIT Goa.
He strongly pointed out that Goa should now be treated like a state and therefore 50% of seats should be reserved under the state quota.
Also regarding Javadekar’s announcement that now IITs have about 10,000 students, Parrikar commented that he believes that 10,000 is a very huge number and due to the increase in number, quality of education offered at IITs might suffer.
