PGGCG Chandigarh to Launch M.Sc in Physics
Post Graduate Government College of Girls will be starting the course of M.Sc Physics as soon as it receives approval. The college has also started an add-on course in Food Preservation.
The Post Graduate Government College for Girls (PGGCG) of Sector 11 in Chandigarh is going to start a course of M.Sc (Master in Science) Physics from the academic session of 2019-2020. The college has also received approval for a new add-on certificate course which will be in Food Preservation.
The facility to pursue a diploma in Food Preservation will be started at the college next year onwards and from 2021, an advanced course in the same subject will also be introduced. This will enable students to pursue post graduation in the course of Food Preservation after completing these qualifications.
The college is also expected to start the course of M.Sc Physics this year onwards. The principal of PGGCG, Anita Kaushal, said that the final approval for starting M.Sc in Physics will go through the syndicate of Panjab University and it will most likely be received before admissions start at the college next month.

The college has been making massive progress in its science stream. Anita Kaushal told that the Department of Science and Technology has given the college a grant of Rs. 80 lakhs which is to be put to use for holding science programmes and chalking out new science syllabus.
Anita Kaushal also spoke about the add-on course on Food Preservation and said that it will give students additional skills and will also enhance their chances of better employability. As of now, there are 30 seats for the course but if the number of applications increases, students will be admitted on merit basis. The fee for the add-on course is Rs. 2,500.

Kaushal also said that the management of the college is giving a lot of emphasis on skill development of the students. Short term courses in Spoken English and Office Management have been started at the college to fulfill this purpose.
