Rs 3.5 Crore Scholarships Awarded to Konkani Students

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu recently distributed scholarships worth Rs 3.5 crore to 685 students aspiring to pursue MBBS and engineering courses.
The scholarships 2016 were instituted by Konkani Language and Cultural Foundation (KLCF). The minister urged the students to build their life around their mother tongue so they would become successful in life. The minister also said that we must always work together to hold on the roots of our mother tongue. We become rootless if we forget the roots and a rootless person cannot become successful in life.

Rather than learning several languages, promote your own mother tongue and thereby contribute to the society, said the minister. The minister also urged all the students present to be intellectuals and make Vishwa Konkani Kendra a world-famous knowledge exchange centre.
While R V Deshpande, state Minister for large and medium industries, who was also present there, appealed the students to be aware of developments around the world along with gaining the education. He also stressed on developing the merit and quality of the students.
T V Mohandas Pai chairman, Manipal Global Education urged students to work for the development of the weaker section of the society and uplift their living standards, after they become successful in life.

Present on the occasion were chairman of VKSSF Ramdas Kamath, President of Vishwa Konkani Kendra Basti Vaman Shenoy, entrepreneur Jagannath Shenoy and a host of others.
