Symposium on 'Basic Research' at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU)
- 87th Annual Session and Symposium on Basic Research - Its Role in National Development is being organized by National Academy of Sciences, India at SPPU.

The National Academy of Sciences, (India NASI) is organising 87th Annual Session and Symposium. The theme for the conference is Basic Research - Its Role in National Development. The conference will be a three-day academic event starting from December 8, 2017, and will end on December 10, 2017. The venue for the conference is Savitribai Phule Pune University.
About the Conference:
The aim of the conference is to increase awareness among the funding agencies and policy-making bodies. In order support basic research with highest national priority.
Dignified personnel like Prof. K.V.R Chary, Senior Professor, Department of Chemical Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, Prof. (Mrs.) Manju Sharma, NASI Distinguished Women Scientist Chair & Former Secretary to the Govt. of India, will be present at the symposium.
Prestigious awards will be awarded to scientists and scholars some of them being:
- The National Academy Of Science, India-Swarna Jayanti Puraskar each comprising of Rs. 5000
- Young Scientist award for the Scientist or Researches who is below 35 Years and has the best research papers.
There will be two scientific sessions held one on Physical science other on Biological Science. In Order attend the conference one needs to be a member of NASI. The charges for seasonal membership is Rs. 50 (for Scientists and stipendiary researchers) whereas Rs. 30/- (for non-Stipendiary researchers).
