Mr. M.K Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, moved a resolution in the state assembly. The resolution is about the removal of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which was the proposal of the University Grants Commission. CUET 2022 is designed to be conducted for seekers of admission into UG, PG and Ph.D. courses in 45 central universities and some the state and private universities.

Mr. Stalin opined that the CUET would sideline the diverse school education system across the country like the NEET examination. He also stated that CUET would yield and give away to coaching culture as parents and students will focus on getting score in the entrance examination, as a result, it would lead to the mental stress of the student because they must prepare for the regular college studies apart from preparing for the CUET.

The resolution also stated a point conveying that any entrance examination, which is based on NCERT, will not give equal opportunities to the students, who have studied different state board syllabi. The resolution clearly mentions that around 80% percent of students across the county study their state board syllabus and write state board examinations and they do come from a marginalized society.

The resolution, which was moved in the TN state assembly, also conveys that this CUET, which is NCERT based examination, will bring disadvantages to the majority of the students. And it would reduce Tamil students in central universities admission.

Earlier, Mr. Stalin wrote a letter to our Prime Minister of India raising the same concern. Now he moves a resolution in the state assembly seeking the removal of CUET.
