Only the Rameswaram district has a holiday today , but officials warn that more schools may shut tomorrow, especially in the districts marked red alert. The India Meteorological Department says heavy to very heavy rain will hit many places, with extremely heavy downpours expected in the state. Because of this widespread rain, schools in the red‑alert zones, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Puducherry, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Karaikal, Thiruvarur, and Nagapattinam are likely to be closed. Parents should keep an eye on official announcements and keep children at home when travel becomes unsafe.

On November 29, 2025, the sea around Tamil Nadu is expected to be very rough. In the Gulf of Mannar and the Comorin area, winds are 65‑75 km/h with gusts up to 85 km/h, strengthening to 70‑80 km/h with gusts up to 90 km/h by morning. Along the northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts, winds start at 50‑60 km/h (gusts 70 km/h) and rise to 70‑80 km/h (gusts 90 km/h) the same day. The southern coast experiences winds of 55‑65 km/h (gusts 75 km/h), increasing to 60‑70 km/h (gusts 80 km/h) on the same day.
Fishermen are urged not to venture out, and anyone at sea should avoid the southwest Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar, Comorin area, and the waters off Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until December 1, 2025.
