Tamil Nadu State Government Declares 50 Courses to be Invalid for Government Jobs
The Tamil Nadu State Government has released an order about the courses taught in the universities and institutes of the state. About 50 courses are declared invalid to be considered for government jobs in the state.
The State Government of Tamil Nadu has made an announcement declaring that over 50 degree courses of different faculties that are offered by some institutions and universities will not qualify for the state government jobs.
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (abbreviated as TNPSC) held its 60th ‘Balanced Level Council Meeting’ last month. The Balanced level Council Administrators and the TNPSC Member Secretary had participated in the meeting. The members at the meeting conclusively decided that certain degree courses offered by the faculties of some educational institutions and universities are not good enough to be considered as proper qualifications for government jobs.

After the meeting was concluded, TNPSC requested the Government of Tamil Nadu to release an order about this issue. The Tamil Nadu State Government scrutinised the recommendation and approved it later on. It then released a Government order declaring the news worldwide.
The order clearly mentions that the BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application) course which is offered by Periyar University is not equivalent to the course of B.Sc. Mathematics. In the same way, the M.Sc course in Applied Science Microbiology which is offered by Thiruvalluvar University, Bharatiyar University, and Periyar University, and the course of M.Sc. Microbiology offered by Kamarajar University are declared to be not equivalent to the M.Sc. Zoology course.

The Government Order issued by the Tamil Nadu State Government mentions that about 50 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in several faculties and universities will be disregarded in the context of government jobs. Last year, the Tamil Nadu government had declared about 33 postgraduate courses to be invalid for consideration as a proper qualification for government job opportunities.
