TG Inter Exams 2026 likely to begin on February 23 or 25; Exam fees likely to be increased
Telangana Inter exams 2026 may begin on February 23 or 25. The exam fee is likely to be increased for the 1st and 2nd year Inter Exams. Exams are being preponed so that students get enough time to prepare for JEE, EAMCET, and NEET.
Telangana Intermediate Exam 2026: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) plans to schedule the Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 in the last week of February. Two draft schedules have been sent to the state government by the board. As per the proposed dates, TGBIE Inter Exams 2026 might begin either on February 23 or February 25 . However, Telangana CM cum Education Minister Revanth Reddy shall take a final decision on it. An official update on TG Inter Exam Dates 2026 and exam fee payment details shall be expected soon. Almost 9 lakh students are expected to appear for TG Inter Exams 2026.
In comparison, the Andhra Pradesh State will start AP Inter Exams 2026 from February 23 and end them by March 24, which could be a model for Telangana’s academic calendar as well. Though both states are looking for similar timelines, AP could complete it a little early, and giving students may get slightly more time for preparation.
The schedule for board exams in Telangana has historically begun at the end of February. But during the pandemic years, that schedule was shifted to March. Reverting to a February timeline marks a return to normal and reduces the pressure on students academically. Usually, TG Inter exams begin in the last week of February.
This early timetable also favours those preparing for national entrance exams like JEE Main, EAMCET, and NEET. In the past years, Inter's second year exams were concluded just about 12 to 15 days ahead of the final JEE Main phase (April session). All these aspects have been considered by the board, and it has decided to conduct Inter exams from February 23 onwards. While the JEE Main 2026 exam dates are expected soon , the second session will most likely take place in the first/ second week of April.
Apart from the exam schedule, the TG Inter Board has also recommended that there should be a fee hike. At present, Rs. 520 is charged for a non-practical course, while the fee is Rs. 750 for those subjects that have practical exams (Home Science or BPC, or Zoology). The proposed hike is Rs. 600 for non-practical courses and Rs. 875 for practical ones, matching Telangana’s fee structure with its neighbouring states.
Government approval is awaited for both the exam schedule and the fee hike. After the official confirmation, students will receive the final dates and fee payment information, which will enable them to prepare for the exams well in time.
