UGC NET JRF Certificate Validity Extended by 1 Year for COVID-affected candidates
UGC NET JRF Certificate Validity for COVID-affected candidates has been extended by 1 more year. The certificate now remains valid for 4 years. M Jagadesh Kumar, the chairperson of UGC, conveyed this on his Twitter handle. An official notification regarding the same will be issued soon.
UGC NET JRF Certificate Validity has been increased by the University Grants Commission (UGC) by one year. Earlier, the UGC NET JRF Award Letter Validity was three years from the issuing date of the JRF Award Letter which has now been increased to four years.
M Jagadesh Kumar, the chairperson of the UGC, confirmed it on his Twitter handle and stated that a notification will be issued shortly. He wrote, "UGC has decided to extend the validity period of the JRF Award Letter up to 1 year (beyond the 3 year period) for all those UGC NET qualified candidates whose admission process was affected due to COVID-19 pandemic situation. The notification is being issued."

Due to the pandemic, UGC NET December 2020 and June 2022 sessions were held concurrently. All National Eligibility Test (NET) qualifying candidates whose admission procedure was hampered by the COVID-19 outbreak have been granted admission.
UGC NET JRF 2021 examinations took place between November 20, 2021 and January 5, 2022. Candidates who enrolled for the UGC NET December 2020 session but were unable to finish the registration procedure were able to reapply in the 2021 cycle. Registration for the combined UGC NET examinations for the December 2020 and June 2021 sessions took held between August 10, 2021 and September 5, 2021. The exam was conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
The award of a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/or eligibility for an Assistant Professorship is based on the candidate's overall performance in Paper I and Paper II of the UGC NET. Candidates who qualify just for Assistant Professorships will not be considered for the award of JRF. Candidates who pass the eligibility exam for Assistant Professorship are subjected to the norms and regulations for Assistant Professor recruitment of the respective universities/colleges/state governments.
