UGC Seeks Proposals from Institutions to Extend Vocational Programmes
The University Grants Commission is seeking proposals from educational institutes who wish to apply for an extension of vocational courses that they offer. The last date for the institutes to submit their proposals is 6th September 2018.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked for proposals from educational institutes for extension of their vocational programmes and community college courses.
One of the senior UGC officials informed that the commission is seeking proposals from the institutes and colleges running Bachelor of Vocational Courses (B.Voc) and community colleges programmes and wish to apply for the extension of these courses.

He also informed that without the approval of the UGC for the extension of their skill-based programmes, these institutes will not be able to ask for any grant for running these programmes. The institutes can submit their proposals latest by 6th September 2018.

Under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF), UGC has made provisions for the financial assistance of up to Rs.18.5 million for the initial three years to each of the institute selected for Bachelor of Vocational courses (B.Voc).
Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is planning to introduce a special admission drive for the M.Phil and Ph.D. courses in order to fill up the vacant seat. However, UGC will not play any role in the admission process and all the higher educational institutions and universities will be free to introduce their own eligibility criteria.
