The Union Cabinet proposes to establish three new All India Institutes of Medical Services (AIIMS) in Nagpur (Maharashtra), Manglagiri (Andhra Pradesh) and Kalyani (West Bengal) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY).
The new three institutes of excellence will be established at a total of cost of Rs4, 949 crore. The proposed AIIMS will have a hospital with a capacity of 960 beds. In addition, there will be a teaching block, administrative block, Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy (AYUSH) block, auditorium, nursing college, night shelter, hostel and residential facilities.
The financial implication is estimated to be Rs1, 030.02 crore. "New AIIMS will be established as institutes of national importance for providing quality medical education, nursing education and also to provide tertiary healthcare facilities to the people of these locations,” said Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
The Cabinet also approved a new civil service called Indian Skill Development Service (ISDS) and in a bid to tackle the black money issue, it also approved protocols amending tax pacts with Israel and Vietnam to include effective sharing of bank information.
"Cabinet gave its approval for the formation of a Group 'A' service of the technical cadre of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSD&E). This was earlier called the Directorate General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour Employment," said source from the Government.
The proposed project will be implemented at the national-level as well as in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Telangana.
