United College London to offer Gandhi Fellowship to 5 Indians
University College London (UCL) has announced a fellowship to commemorate the 70th Independence Day of India, for young Indians between the age group of 18-30 years.
On the occasion of India's 70 th Independence, and as part of United Kingdom's celebration of UK-India Year of Culture, the University College London (UCL) has announced a Fellowship to commemorate the occasion for young Indians between the age group of 18-30 years.
For applying to the fellowship, aspiring candidates must write a1000-word essay on the topic: 'Why is Gandhi relevant in the 21st century and how can he be made more relevant?'

Important Dates to Apply for Gandhi Fellowship:
Essays to be submitted by February 19, 2017
A panel of experts will rate the Essays submitted by applicants
Five winners will be declared on March 1, 2017
Gandhi Fellowship worth £1000 to be awarded to all five winners
The winners will get three-nights accommodation in London and will take part in the Conference dedicated to this
- All the winning essays will be put on display at the Gandhi Exhibition in London
The man behind the fellowship scheme is Professor Narinder Kapur from University College London who wants to raise awareness about the London Conference in India and encourage the youth of India on Gandhian themes.
Main aim of the conference:
- Explore Gandhian values and ideals
- Derive relevancy of Gandhian values in modern world
- Interpret & implement Gandhian values in real life & make the world a better place to live in

"The move will definitely bring awareness amongst the new generation youngsters. The philosophy propounded by Gandhi is still relevant and our efforts will definitely make today's youths aware about Gandhian Philosophy", added Kapur.
