The Assam TET 2026 notification has not been officially released yet by the Department of Elementary Education, Assam. Based on previous cycles, candidates can expect the notification later in 2026. The last edition, Assam TET 2026 (TET cum Recruitment Test), was conducted on January 19, 2025 across multiple districts of Assam, with the written results declared on May 30, 2025 (PGT) and June 23, 2025 (GT), and the final merit list released on October 17, 2025.
Notably, the Government of Assam has already announced a Special Assam TET 2026 for Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium schools to address a shortage of Language-1 teachers- however, this is separate from the regular ATET exam. The regular Assam TET 2026 notification is still awaited.

Special Assam TET 2026 Dates Announced
The Government of Assam has announced a Special Assam TET 2026 for Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium elementary schools to address the shortage of Language-1 teachers in these minority language medium schools. It is important to note that this is separate from the regular ATET exam.
The exam covers two papers- Paper I for Lower Primary (Classes I–V) and Paper II for Upper Primary (Classes VI–VIII). Each paper consists of 150 MCQ-based questions carrying 150 marks with a duration of 2.5 hours. The qualifying mark is 60% for general candidates and 55% for reserved category candidates.
The online application portal opened on January 7, 2026 at sebaonline.org. The examination fee is ₹550 for general category, ₹450 for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC, and ₹300 for PWD candidates. Candidates appearing in both papers must pay the fee separately. The exam will be conducted across 7 centre districts namely Cachar, Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Kamrup, Kamrup Metro, Hojai, and Sonitpur. For Post Graduate Teachers Under Secondary Education, Assam, Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) Applications are invited online from candidates. The applications can be submitted online at the official website.

Educational Qualifications for Assam TET 2026
Lower Primary (LP) Level
- Completed Senior Secondary (Class 12) with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or

- Obtained at least 50% in Senior Secondary along with a 2-year Diploma in Education, or
- Graduated from a recognized university with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or

Upper Primary (UP) Level
- Hold a graduation degree with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or
- Achieve at least 50% in either your Graduation or Post-Graduation along with a B.Ed., or
- Have at least 50% in Senior Secondary with a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education, or
- Score at least 50% in Senior Secondary with a 4-year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed., or
- Hold a graduation degree with at least 50% and a 1-year B.Ed (Bachelor in Education)
Age Limit for Assam TET 2026

Assam TET 2026 Selection Process
Assam TET consists of a written exam. There will be two papers; Assam TET Paper-I is for candidates who intend to become primary class teachers. Assam TET Paper-II is for candidates who wish to become a teacher for Upper Primary level 9 (Classes VI to VIII).
To qualify for the Assam Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), candidates should score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150. Only then, they will be able to qualify for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). In addition, SC/ST (Hills)/ST (Plain)/ OBC/ MOBC/ PWD (PH) will also get a relaxation of 5 %. Thus, these candidates need to score 83 out of 150 (qualifying marks) i.e. 55%.
