ICSE Class 10 Social Science Weightage 2026
: The subject includes two main papers: H.C.G. Paper 1 (History & Civics combined) and H.C.G. Paper 2 (Geography as a separate paper). Each of the papers will carry 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment. The theory papers are again subdivided, with History and Civics paper consisting of two parts: Part I (short answer compulsory questions worth 30 marks) and Part II (long answer questions with internal choices worth 50 marks). The Geography paper has two parts as well. Part I will have topography-based questions, map work, and MCQs, while Part II will include long answer questions with internal choices.

In History and Civics, you need to prepare any one project/assignment related to the syllabus. In Geography, the 20 marks internal assessment will be evaluated based on the project work. You will be required to prepare a project report on any one given topic. Both the internal and the external examiners will assess the assignments independently. The maximum duration for each paper will be 2 hours and an extra 15 minutes will be given for reading the question paper. In Part 1 of both the papers (History & Civics and Geography), all questions will be compulsory. In Part 2 of History and Civics, you need to answer two out of three questions from Section A and three out of five questions from Section B.
