Kakatiya University Internships and Placements
Internships
The university has furnished the following information on internships in its Self Study Report 2023:

UG 4-Year | 793 | 510 | INR 3,55,000 | 42 |
PG 2-Year | 24 | 1 | INR 5,50,000 | 0 |
Our Take:
With a placement percentage of 67.9% for UG 4-year and only 4.1% placement for PG 2-year, there is a lot of scope for improvement in terms of placement for Kakatiya University. Oracle, Genpact, Cognizant, Mind Tree, Cameo Infotech, C A Technologies, Shantha Biotechnics Ltd, CP Aquaculture Ltd, etc have visited the campus for placements. Therefore, it is apparent that the university should look over the functioning of the placement cell in providing the requisite training and guidance to its students.
Talking about internships, out of over 5,189 students, only 23.49% of students went for internships. Whether there is a compulsory internship course for each programme, the number of students willing to take up an internship is comparatively less and it refrains the students from getting the head-start to perform well in the professional world. The ill placement and internship record make a bad name for the university and can lead to repercussions in the future for them.

It is evident from the data mentioned above that Kakatiya University has more female students compared to males. As per the above date, the male-to-female ratio stands at 4:6. Furthermore, Almost 100% of students are from Telangana with no students from outside the state. One reason that justifies the above number is that Kakatiya University reserves 85% of the total seats for local candidates. 25% of the unreserved seats can be filled by students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on the basis of merit. The university must have cultural diversity at the campus for students.

The relationship between the management and students can be labelled as bitter-sweet. There were incidents where students protested against the university management due to discrepancies in PhD admissions. On this matter, Telangana Today stated, “Students, operating under the banner of the KU Student Joint Action Committee (JAC), have been agitating for 30 days against the alleged irregularities and corruption in PhD admissions.” Here is a snippet:

Kakatiya University Expectation vs Reality - CollegeDekho Verdict
Kakatiya University has a pollution-free lush green anti-ragging campus with a strong academic focus. Infrastructure-wise, the university has all the facilities that are necessary for a student's holistic development. With a total of 95 programmes in sciences, arts, commerce and business management, pharmacy, engineering, education, and physical education, the scope of academic growth is excellent.
However, there are a few issues that the students have highlighted. Starting, with the insufficient hostel seats for boys and girls which is also evident from the fact that there are no students attending the university from outside states. The number of university-industry linkages is also minimal refraining the students from receiving the needed exposure. Student's education is also compromised due to the non-recruitment of permanent teaching staff. The university itself has mentioned the same in its annual report citing legal problems as a reason.
