Bar Council Urges Delhi University to Shut Down Law Colleges Offering Evening Courses
After the recent inspection conducted by BCI, the panel has noted that various illegalities which were pointed out earlier remain unattended.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has asked the University of Delhi to shut down law colleges offering evening classes. A committee of BCI has submitted the adverse report regarding the quality of education which is being imparted at various centres of DU’s law faculty. The report also mentioned that some of the colleges do not possess proper infrastructure facilities.

A senior official of the university said that the Academic Council (AC) has decided to follow the recommendations and rules of BCI. Currently, around 800 students are enrolled in DU evening colleges offering law courses.

The BCI derecognized the University’s law centres namely Campus Law Centre, Law Centre-I & II in the year 2014. However, it was granted extension of affiliation for the 2014-15 academic session as DU claimed shifting to a new building which had all the adequate facilities.
