CollegeDekho Poll Results : On August 18, 2025, CollegeDekho experts conducted a poll to gauge student opinions on the impact of delays in the Online Admissions Module for Degree Colleges counselling process. The central question posed to students was whether they felt that the delay in OAMDC admissions was affecting their academic prospects.

The poll received significant participation, with 119 students casting their votes. Out of these, 81 respondents admitted that they might have already secured admission in autonomous colleges had the OAMDC process been completed on time, reflecting their concern over the delay. 37 students agreed that the delay had largely impacted their admission prospects. Only one student expressed that the delay had no bearing on their academic plans.

The results, therefore, strongly suggest that the majority of the student community views the delay as detrimental to their admission opportunities, particularly concerning autonomous institutions that commence their academic year earlier.

The delay in OAMDEC admissions is not a new phenomenon, as similar issues were witnessed in 2024 when only 37% to 40% seats in degree colleges were filled. The slow progress in the counselling process was identified as a major factor behind the low enrollment rate. Since minority and autonomous colleges usually begin their academic sessions in June or July, they naturally become a preferred option for students eager to begin their degree programmes without interruption. Many aspirants who are wary of uncertainties in state-level counselling procedures tend to opt for such institutions to avoid losing an academic year.

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education has officially confirmed that the commencement of OAMDC counselling 2025 will be postponed. The process, originally expected to begin earlier, will now start on August 20, 2025. Candidates will be given a five-day window to register for the counselling session. The revised schedule has been widely publicised across major Telugu newspapers. According to APSCHE, the primary reasons for the delay include pending approval processes for several colleges, the finalisation of fee structures across aided government and private institutions, and other administrative and procedural hurdles.

This repeated pattern of postponement raises concerns about the efficiency of the admission mechanism and its direct implications for students’ academic futures. While the Council attributes the delays to structural formalities, students are increasingly vocal about the adverse impact these uncertainties have on their educational timelines. With autonomous and minority institutions gaining an edge by adhering to early schedules, state-run admission modules such as OAMDC face mounting pressure to streamline processes and avoid recurring setbacks in the coming years.
