Delhi University Yet to Make a Decision Regarding Online PG Entrance Tests

DU is yet to come clear of the online entrance test opposition that has left DU aspirants in a fix. Although the dates for the registration process have been announced by the university, there is no clarity on whether an online test will be conducted or not.

Various faculty members and student organisations have been opposing the test stating that the university is technically inadequate to conduct such entrance tests.

The admission committee of Delhi University has stated that the perspective of all the stakeholders will be taken into account before arriving at the final decision.

DUSU General Secretary and ABVP member, Ankit Sangwan has been opposing the online entrance exam scheme. He cited the example of the DU college websites crashing several times last year and said that DU lacks technical expertise required to conduct such an exam.

He also said that it will be unfair for students coming from rural areas as they do not have access to computers or the internet. He further added that DU has no special centers that can be used by such aspirants.

Sangwan also suggested the university that they should conduct online entrance exam for one post-graduate course to check if the system works out well. He further added that an online entrance exam will be most welcome if all the technical glitches and loopholes are dealt with.

Online registration for Delhi University’s undergraduate programmes will begin from May 22, 2017. Whereas, admission process for postgraduate and M.Phil/ Ph.D. programmes will start from May 31.
