DRDO and DBCE to Collaborate on Research Projects

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) , Fatorda are likely to collaborate on research projects. Currently, both are in talks regarding the potential tie-up. S Christopher, DRDO Chairman and Secretary, visited the college on October 15, 2016, over the possibilities of involving students and faculty in DRDO projects.

During his visit, he mentioned that the students would possibly have short stints with India’s top research and defence organisation. If the collaboration takes place, the students will have a chance to work on independent projects under the guidance of scientists at DRDO.
Currently, the organisation is looking for projects related to ocean sciences and naval technology. Hence, DRDO asked DBCE to finalise five research projects out of which the organisation will select one project under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will be signed by March 2017. The MoU will be signed with DRDO in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce (FICCI) as soon as the incubation centre is ready at DBCE.

Recently, FICCI has signed a MoU with DBCE through which a facility for 20-startup entrepreneurs will be enabled. Currently, DRDO’s request to shortlist one project is underway.
Prof. Satyesh Kakodkar, faculty-in-charge of Public Relations revealed that the officials of DRDO had visited the institute twice. The institute is working to contemplate possible options for projects that will be showcased to DRDO.
