Government Law College Mumbai To Take Re-Examinations for 270 Students
Government Law College is going to take re-exams of three subjects. Around 270 students have failed in the practical written exams of these subjects and they will be allowed to take a second and final attempt.
The Government Law College (GLC) of Churchgate, Mumbai issued a circular on 10th May 2019, Friday, declaring that the college will be retaking some exams. About 270 students had failed in the practical written exams of the three and five-year courses of the Government Law College that were held in April. These students have received an opportunity to give the re-exam of the subjects they have failed.
The re-examination of the subjects of Public Interest Lawyering, Professional Ethics, and Drafting Pleading and Conveyancing will be taken on 14th May 2019, Tuesday. It is in these subjects that more than 270 students have failed.

Initially, the Government Law College was adamant on not conducting any re-examinations and refused to let the students who failed in the first attempt to retake the exam. The students of the courses of Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Master of Law (LLM) had written an open letter requesting the college authorities to allow them to sit for a re-examination. The college did not respond to their letter and denied conducting any re-tests.
When the college did not accept their request, the students sought help from the political party Yuva Sena so as to put some pressure on the college authorities. However, this step led the students to receive a show cause notice from the college. It was stated in the notice that seeking help from any political party was not a disciplinary act done by the students.

Eventually, the college did accept the request of the students and agreed to take a re-exam. The students who were absent for the first attempt of these exams can also appear for this second attempt. The circular mentioned the date of the examination and declared that no further exams will be conducted for students who fail this second attempt. The failures will also not be given their hall tickets for the final exams.
