IIT Madras Collaborates with AAI for Research on Air Navigation Systems
- The MoU between IIT Madras and AAI will largely focus on the collaborative research project on air navigation systems.
- It will also address the challenges faced by Indian Aviation Sector.
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) has collaborated with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to start a collaborative research on air navigation systems to help address the challenges related to air traffic management and aviation infrastructure.
According to Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT Madras, the collaboration between the two will lead to innovation in airport and navigation management. They will also address the challenges faced by Indian Aviation Sector and look for solutions for the same.

The MoU will also provide assistance and knowledge by the IIT Madras experts and researchers in the areas to carry out research which includes data mining solutions, artificial intelligence, mathematics, navigation management, innovation and analytics
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Ravindra Gettu, Dean Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research, IIT Madras and AK Dutta Member Air Navigation Services. While signing the MoU Gettu expressed his view on the tie-up and said that this will facilitate the access of crucial data in the field of air traffic and innovation for researchers and scholars of IIT Madras.

The MoU will also offer transfer of knowledge and skill by the IIT Madras experts in the areas essential to carry out research, including mathematical, analytical, artificial intelligence and data mining solutions.
The Airports Authority of India manages 125 airports across the country and also provide Air Navigation Services over 2.8 million squares nautical miles of airspace.
