India’s Largest Cancer Institute in Haryana to Open in January
The National Cancer Institute at Haryana will be operational from 3rd week of January. The National Cancer Institute will have 710 beds, out of which 200 beds will be dedicated for translational research on India-specific cancers.
The largest cancer institute which is established in Jhajjar district of Haryana will be functional from the 3rd week of January 2019. Union Health Minister, Mr. JP Nadda confirmed the same and stated that The National Cancer Institute at Jhajjar would have around 710 beds. Out of the 710 beds, 200 beds will be for dedicated for India-specific cancers.
The National Cancer Institute will have similar regulations and operations as that of the National Cancer Institute in the US and the German Cancer Research Centre.

The newly established Cancer Institute will be a pioneer in the field of cancer research in the country. The Out Patient Department (OPD) services are already functional since last week.
Apart from this, many different facilities such as medical oncology, radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, surgical oncology and others will be available at the Cancer Insitute. The cancer institute will be operational under AIIMS Delhi and has been built at a cost of Rs.2,035 crore. The institute will have over 1,080 hotels rooms for staff members and around 372 flats.
The National Cancer Institute was established with an aim to prevent and cure cancer. According to the reports, there are more than 80 lakh cancer patients in the world, out of which 29 lakh patients are in India.

The institute will conduct research on cancers which are more specific to India such as liver cancers, tobacco-related cancers and others.
