J&K Government Launches Internet Facilitation Centre in Pulwama

To help the students of Shopian and Pulwama region of Kashmir who have been facing internet and communication cut-down for more than a month, the J&K administration has set up an Internet Facilitation Cente at the Deputy Commissioner's office in Pulwama.

The students of Jammu and Kashmir were excited as the internet centre was opened for public in Pulwama. Students gathered in the centre to fill their application forms for national examinations such as GATE and UGC NET .

Mr Mohammad Ashraf Hakkak, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the region said that their office decided to provide internet connectivity to students so that they can fill various admission forms, pay fees and download admit cards for their admission in higher studies. Milad Mehmood, a JEE aspirant from the valley was present at the Internet Facilitation Centre. He praised the initiative by the administration. He informed that it helped him to fill the form as the internet and broadband services have been terminated in Kashmir since a long time in this time of emergency.

Another student Rayees Ahmed said that considering the current state of affairs in Kashmir wherein internet facilities are not available, students contacted the deputy commissioner expressing their concerns before. Now, students will be able to fill the application forms for national examinations easily,

The situation in Kasmir is not favourable currently for students and academicians as an emergency has been imposed and the revolts and protests by civilians have led to an adverse situation. In such a scenario of unrest, this move by the administration of launching an internet facilitation centre is a step in the right direction.
