Karnataka Examinations Authority May Conduct KCET Online

The Karnataka Examinations Authority is trying to have the K-CET exam be conducted in the online mode. The examination will most probably be taken online from the year 2020.

With the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (K-CET) being conducted in the online mode from the upcoming academic year of 2020, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has asked the National Testing Agency (abbreviated as NTA) for assistance. The NTA is a unit of the MHRD (Ministry of Human Resource Development) of the Government of India.

G T Devegowda, the Higher Education Minister, announced this on the morning of 25th May 2019. Devegowda has hosted a press conference for announcing the results of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (K-CET) of 2019 on that day.

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test is a gateway for all those individuals who are aspiring to get admission and bag seats in agriculture, engineering, pharmacy and other courses. G T Devegowda said that all the students will be required to give multiple mock tests to that they get well versed and familiar with the pattern of the question paper and are comfortable with the pattern on the day of the exam.

The Common Entrance Test has a similar pattern for exams in all states. It has four papers or four sections. These sections comprise the subjects of Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Mathematics. Each paper comprises 60 questions which carry one mark each. The duration of every exam is one hour.

The application process of K-CET and its seat allotment process is done online but the conduction of the test and process of document verification is still done in the offline medium. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) had intended to conduct the test in the online mode from the year of 2019 but some officials voted against it because the students were not informed beforehand.
