Maharaja Sayajirao University Removes Fee Hike Partially
Maharaja Sayajirao University withdraws fee hike partially after the students protested against the same. The fees hike of the Commerce Faculty by Rs 1,000 instead of Rs.2,250.
The Maharaja Sayajirao University has decided to decrease the fees hike of the Commerce Faculty by Rs 1000/ after the students protested against the same. Earlier, the university decided to increase the fees by Rs.2250.
The university also has set up a new criterion in which fees for any course can only be hiked by a maximum of 10 per cent at a time. Previously, there were no such criteria for academic fees, whereas the increase in examination charges in accordance with the Syndicate resolution was 10 per cent.

Mayank Patel Syndicate Maharaja Sayajirao University, informed that the fee was hiked in eight major courses in this year. This caused agitation among the students and they protest against the university. The university looked into the matter and observed that the fee hike was less than ten per cent. However, it was around 24 per cent at the university's Faculty of Commerce. It is when the university decided to partially withdraw the fee hike.
The Maharaja Sayajirao University was established in the year 1949 and was formerly known as Baroda College. The University is situated in the city of Vadodara, Gujarat. The University is one of the oldest higher education institutes in India offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in various disciplines such as management, engineering, science and technology, arts and humanities and others.
