MBA Students Most Employable; M.Tech, MCA Witness Decline

 According to the India Skill Report 2019-20, the most employable candidates in India are MBA students (54%) against 40% in the past two years. It also revealed that there has been a decline in the employability of courses such as MCA, B.Tech.

According to India Skills Report 2019-20, around 46% of the Indian students are employable or ready to take up jobs against only 33% of the Indian students in 2014. The most employable candidates in India are MBA students (54%) against 40% in the past two years. Courses such as B.Com, B.A., B.Pharma, Polytechnic witnessed an improvement in employability.

As per the report, there has been a decline in the employability of courses such as MCA, B.Tech and in other technical courses. However, there has been an overall improvement in the trends in the last six years.

States with Highest Employable Talent

  • Tamil Nadu
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • Mumbai
  • Hyderabad

Chennai, Lucknow, New Delhi, Pune Bengaluru, Chennai have managed to maintain their presence in the top 10 list over the past six years.

The report also showcased that there has also been an improvement in the female employability. There is an upward trend from 38% in 2017 to 46% in 2019 and now 47%. The talent pool of women can be found in Delhi, Telangana and Rajasthan are the top cities to have the most talented pool of females.

India Skill Report also analysed the candidates' preferences. It showcased that around 65% of the students require skill training and relevant internship opportunities. The report also revealed that the students give more importance to interactions with companies, which according to them is important for job opportunities. The students find it necessary to get connected with the industry to broaden their horizons.

94% of the students in India believe that the internship/ apprenticeship of 3 to 12 months will improve their skills and increase their employability.
