MP: Govt Coaching Centre in Jhabua Assists Tribal Students to Clear JEE Main
55 tribal and schedule caste students from the Jhabua district and 20 from Alirajpur have cleared the JEE Main 2017 exam with the help of these classes.
The free coaching classes started by the Government of Madhya Pradesh have helped close to 150 tribal students in achieving their goals. The assistance classes are conducted to help students of the tribal community clear JEE Main exam for admission to the various engineering colleges in the country.
55 tribal and scheduled caste students from the Jhabua district and 20 from Alirajpur have cleared the JEE Main 2017 exam with the help of these classes. These students will be appearing for the JEE Advanced 2017 exam basis which admissions to the prestigious IITs are done.
Held in a government girls’ school in Jhabua, assistance is provided to students through video-conferencing. Various retired engineers and IITians organise classes and help students prepare for the competitive exams.
The classes were started on the lines of Bihar’s Super 30. The administration provided free books required for the preparation Class 12 Board Exams as well as competitive exams. Up to 200 students are shortlisted for the purpose and classes are conducted for them three times a week.
Naharpur village’s Shaitan Katara wanted to clear JEE Main exam to pursue engineer. He aspires to become a techie like Mark Zuckerberg someday. The classes have helped students like Katara and many others to the path that lead to achieving their goals.
Ashish Verma, another student who cleared JEE Main 2017 with the help of these classes, said that his father is an electrician and could not have afforded the expense of a formal coaching institute. He added that Government’s coaching centre helped him with his preparation for the exam.
Another engineering aspirant, Saurabh Amliyaar, informed that he is the first literate person in his family where his elders have been following the farming profession. He hopes to get a good college and continue his education.
Chief executive officer (CEO) of Zila parishad, Anurag Chaudhary, said that the coaching classes have achieved tremendous success in a few years. He added that the idea was to bring students of SC and ST community in the mainstream education be helping them in securing seats at IITs.

Anurag shared how the classes work and said that students from various local government schools are provided coaching classes thrice a week in Jhabua. Students are moved to a hostel two months prior to the competitive exam for rigorous preparation.
The students who have qualified JEE Main 2017 will be sent to Indore for the preparation of JEE Advanced exam, informed Jhabua Collector, Ashish Saxena.
Started in 2015, the classes were only able to help 11 students clear JEE Mains. The numbers increased as time passed and 38 students enrolled for the classed qualified the exam in 2016. The biggest success was achieved this year with more than 50 students of Jhabua qualifying JEE Main 2017.

The classes have also helped in improving the literacy rate in the region. Due to lack of knowledge, few students use to choose science subjects in class 11. With the introduction of these coaching classes and the success of students, the number of students choosing science has gone up to 200 from a mere 50.
