On May 24, 2017, around 40 students belonging to Gujarati-medium approached High Court seeking cancellation of NEET-UG 2017 that took place on May 7, 2017. The students filed an urgent petition in High Court with the help of a lawyer, Mr. Jigar Patel. The court is likely to hear the plea on May 26, 2017.

The students stated in the petition that the question paper of Gujarat-medium was tougher than the English-medium. The questions were different, and the board did not maintain uniformity in holding the NEET-UG 2017 examination. Therefore, the students demanded that the CBSE must cancel the examination. The students also claimed that the board must prepare a separate merit list for Gujarati students if it does not cancel the examination.

Recently, they carried out a massive protest and submitted a memorandum to Directorate of Medical Education. Now, CBSE has taken up the issue, and it is under review.

On the other hand, the High Court of Madras has stayed all the proceedings related to NEET-UG 2017 examination until June 7, 2017. The court made this announcement on May 24, 2017.
