A group of students, especially those from the backward regions has expressed extreme anger and apprehensions regarding the online examination process. They have demanded the continuation of the old pattern. One of the students from rural area stated that many students like him do not have adequate exposure to computer operations. They are apprehensive because any error on their part could result in them in failing and scoring less marks in the examination. Since most of the students from the rural area are not well equipped with a computer and its functions, it may affect their performance during the examination. Hence, it will be better if the exams are conducted offline as their concern is genuine.

Sushil Borde, a student activist mentioned that online exam should be made optional. It is unfair on the part of the authorities to make online exams compulsory for ITI students. This step can take a toll on the future of rural students as they are unfamiliar with the basics of computers.

A total number of 831 students will appear for Paper 1 and 715 students for Paper 2 at government ITIs. The examination will take place from 17th February to 21st February 2018.
