AP OAMDC Degree Counselling 2025: The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has wrapped up the degree admission counselling under the convenor quota, but the turnout has been poor. Out of 3,82,038 seats available across 1,200 colleges, only 1,30,273 have been taken, which is just 34.09%. This leaves more than 2.5 lakh seats vacant. The trend is not new—last year, too, only about 32% of seats were filled in the first phase.

A key problem this year was due to errors in certificate uploading, resulting in 18,532 students losing their seats. In terms of admissions, government colleges recorded  39% admissions, private colleges 33.34%, aided colleges 28%, and university colleges just 39%. Even private universities saw only a small portion of their convener quota seats filled.

Students receiving allocation will have to report to their colleges by September 22, 2025, while classes have already started before September 18. Unusually high vacancies have raised concern. Experts have pointed to a decrease in interest in degree courses and flaws in the admission process.

Reasons for Low Admissions in AP Degree Counselling

Several factors have contributed to the low seat allotment this year.

  • Improper uploading of certificates by candidates
  • Students are showing less interest in traditional degree courses
  • Preference for professional and technical courses like engineering, medicine, and management
  • Migration of students to other states for higher education
  • Delays and confusion during the counselling process
The low admission numbers highlight challenges in the counselling process and student interest. Authorities may need to address these issues to improve seat filling in future academic years.
