Senior Bureaucrat Anurag Tripathy Appointed as New CBSE Secretary

  • The Department of Personnel and Training has appointed Senior bureaucrat, Anurag Tripathi as the new secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education.

The Department of Personnel and Training or DoPT has recently appointed Senior bureaucrat, Anurag Tripathi as the new secretary of the CBSE or the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Anurag Tripathy, who is the 1998 batch officer of Indian Railway Personnel Service or IRPS will hold the post of CBSE secretary for a period of five years. Joseph Emmanuel was the former deputy secretary of CBSE.

The CBSE is a national school education board for public as well as private schools, falling under the Union Government. Further, it offers affiliation to all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), all Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), private schools and other schools which have been approved by the country's Union Government. It also conducts Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses in architecture and engineering. It also manages the NEET-UG or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test - Undergraduate examination for admission to various BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) and MBBS (Medicinae Baccalaureus and Bachelor of Surgery) courses.

It is also responsible for conducting the final examinations for secondary and senior secondary school in the month of March every year. In the past few days, a lot of uncertainty regarding announcement date of CBSE Class 12 results for the year 2017 has been witnessed. The delay was certain with the orders given by the Delhi High Court directing the CBSE to consider marks moderation policy this year. The Central Board of Secondary Education is also expected to announce the result date of Class 12 by the end of this week.
