SVSU Launches a Reservation Scheme Called 'Abhinandan'
SVSU to launch a new scheme of reservation to honour Abhinandan Varthaman. This scheme will reserve seats for the family of India's security personnel.
Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU) of Haryana has decided to launch a new scheme of reservation for the children and widows of Indian soldiers who lose their lives during the line of duty also the winners of gallantry awards. This scheme has been started as a gesture of honour towards Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman and to celebrate his homecoming and safe return.
This scheme will help the children of army soldiers in pursuing formal education and developing skills. The name of this scheme is ‘ Abhinandan: Veer Balidaani Kritagayata Yojna ’ (AVBKY). This reservation will be given to the family and children of personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces, Armed Forces and also to the State Police. 1% extra seats of the approved intake will be created by the university for the wards and widows in all the skill and educational courses starting from the upcoming academic year.

The Vice-Chancellor of SVSU, Raj Nehru, said that SVSU is the first university that has started a scheme like this for the welfare of the security personnel of the country. The scheme will be funded by the government but the university will also have its own corpus fund so as to meet all the expenditure that incurs under AVBKY.

The candidates that are eligible for the scheme of AVBKY are permitted to apply for any course offered by the university. If the number of applications exceeds the total number of seats allotted, then the university will release a separate merit list for these candidates.
