UGC Approves 28 Teaching Positions in JMI for 4 New Departments
The University Grants Council approves 28 teaching positions for 4 new departments of Jamia Milia Islamia which is launched keeping in mind the current employable standards.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved 28 teaching position in the Central University Jamia Milia Islamia for their 4 new departments of studies. The 4 new departments which are, Hospital Management & Hospice Studies, Foreign Languages, Design & Innovation and Environmental Sciences.
The UGC has approved 7 teaching positions in the above mentioned 4 departments of JMI. The positions include 1 post for a Professor, 2 Associate professors and 4 Assistant Professors.
On 29th October 2019, the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia, Ms Najma Aktar informed that the 4 departments will be functional shortly while addressing the 99th foundation day of the university.
She has thanked the UGC for approving the 4 new departments which are highly focused to produce employable students in various sectors. The courses will help students to be ready for multiple job-oriented sections as per the current market needs. She also added that in future, the university will take initiatives to add more job-oriented course like these.
Jamia Millia Islamia is hailed as one of the institutes with eminence for its high quality of academics in various sections.

Previously, she expressed her will to add new-age technical courses such as Big Data, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT) and upgrade the courses which are already existing in the university. Talking about introducing the future-oriented course, Ms Aktar spoke about introducing women-oriented course like Nursing so that the female student’s percentage in the university goes up to 50% than the existing 36%.
