TGPSC files Writ Appeal in High Court against Re-evaluation of Group 1 Results
TGPSC challenges a High Court order to re-evaluate Group-I Mains answer scripts. The Commission says the order goes against its rules.
TGPSC Group 1 Results: The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) has filed a writ appeal in the Telangana High Court against a single judge’s order directing the re-evaluation of Group-I Mains answer scripts. The earlier order stated that if re-evaluation was not carried out, the entire examination would be cancelled and fresh exams would be conducted.
TGPSC argues that re-evaluation of answer scripts is not allowed under its rules. According to the Commission, only a recount of marks within 15 days of results declaration is permitted. The appeal describes the court order as “perverse, contradictory, and based on assumptions rather than evidence.”
The Commission also highlighted inconsistencies in the judge’s directions. While asking for re-evaluation within eight months, the order simultaneously threatened cancellation of the entire exam if it was not done. TGPSC considers this legally flawed and beyond the court’s jurisdiction.
Addressing allegations of irregularities, TGPSC clarified that the appearance was strictly recorded through the biometric system, and the claims of lattice mark lists were already rejected by the police. The allocation of candidates for the centers, including Koti Women's College, was randomly done on the basis of facilities without any bias, and complaints of discrimination against Telugu medium candidates were unbalanced.
Regarding the evaluator, the Commission said that only those people were constantly selected in mock evaluations, and professors who write books could not be disqualified. TGPSC, questioning its evaluation process, objected to the court, saying that this examination reduces integrity. The appeal tries to separate the order of the single judge, and it is expected to be heard by a division bench soon.
Impact on Candidates
The High Court order and subsequent appeal may create uncertainty and stress for candidates appearing in the Group-I exam.
- Delay in final results until the appeal is resolved.
- Uncertainty about whether re-evaluation will be conducted.
- Increased anxiety and stress among candidates awaiting results.
- Potential need to prepare again if fresh exams are ordered.
- Confusion regarding fairness and transparency of the evaluation process.
Next Steps
The TGPSC appeal is expected to be heard soon, determining the course of action for the Group-I Mains examination.
- The appeal will be listed before a division bench of the Telangana High Court.
- The court will review the single judge’s order directing re-evaluation.
- TGPSC will present its arguments against re-evaluation.
- A final judgment will decide whether the original order is upheld or set aside.
- Candidates will be informed of any further instructions or examination schedules after the court’s decision.
