Working in Rural Areas Must for UP Govt. Medical College Graduates: Yogi Adityanath

Marking the first anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Diwas, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh made an announcement for the students graduating from Govt. Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh. The CM said that students who have gained their MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degrees from the government medical colleges of the state will have to work in rural areas for at least two years unless they opt for higher studies. He further added that students who are pursuing MS (Master of Surgery) and MD (Doctor of Medicine) will have to work for a year in villages.

The CM also said that the doctors will have to sign bonds to ensure that they work in rural areas after graduating. He assured that no one will be able to influence the state government for internships.

Comparing the success rates of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) with Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (CMJAY), he said that while 1.18 crore families have enjoyed the benefits of PMJAY, more than 8 lakh families were benefited by the CMJAY Scheme. Up to 2 lakh people were distributed golden cards through the scheme, he further added.

The UP government has done a lot of work for the medical sector of the state. As per the CM's speech, only 12 medical colleges were established between 1947 and 2012 whereas the current government is building 15 new medical colleges in the state. Out of these colleges, seven have already been opened.
