World Environment Day 2017: Students Body to Plant 5 Lakh Saplings Across Kerala
- On World Environment Day 2017, Students Federation of India (SFI) will plant five lakh saplings.
- Union Nations aims to push people to get outdoors and appreciate the beauty of nature and its importance in our life and realize their responsibility to protect the Earth.
Celebrating World Environment Day 2017, Students Federation of India (SFI) will plant five lakh saplings in the educational institutions across the state of Kerala today. The plantation act is based on the slogan 'Preserve the goodness of nature and it's water resources'.
The inauguration ceremony of the program will be held at Palakkad Victoria College, Kerala in the presence of AK Balan, the minister of welfare and culture.
On this occasion, debates and seminars will be conducted related to the Environment Day. With the motto "Let's prepare, Let them study", the SFI had joined hands with 400 public schools in the state. According to a statement from the student's body of SFI, they will make sure study kits and books are provided to the students so that no one misses the opportunity to acquire quality education.

The Membership campaign of SFI will begin on June 5 with the motto "Mindful Campuses; Hopeful Public Education System". Also, the district wise inauguration of the same will take place on the same day.

The World Environment Day is celebrated on every 5 th June as decided by Union Nations with an aim to push people to get outdoors and appreciate the beauty of nature and its importance in our life and realize their responsibility to protect the Earth.
It is the biggest annual event of the year for positive environmental action. This year, Canada which is the host and a centre of the celebration of the event choose the theme as 'Connecting People to Nature'.

World Environment Day is celebrated since the year 1972. Thousands of events are organised on this occasion from neighbourhood clean-ups to replanting forests, to implementing actions against wildlife crime.
