How to tackle 'Assertion-Reason' and 'Statement' type questions in NEET 2026 Biology?
Since 2021, the NEET Biology section has undergone an analytical shift. Now the paper consists of about 11% assertion-based questions. Standard MCQs are rarely found and have seen a significant decrease. Here is a guide to tackle assertion and statement-based questions in NEET 2026:
Step 1: Always use the “Independent” method when reading Assertion and Reason. Read the Assertion alone and see if it is true or false, and then follow the same for the Reason.
Step 2: If you think both the Assertion and Reason are true, then ask yourself if the Reason supports the Assertion.
Step 3: Use the elimination option.
Step 4: While tackling the statement-based questions, look for absolute words or keywords. Sometimes NTA will change one word to make a statement False.
Step 5: If the sentence is a bit long, split it and check that both sections are true.
Step 6: Learn the NCERT by heart since most statements and assertions are picked up directly from it.
NEET is approaching, and in the last few days left for the paper, it is a mindful practice to review the most anticipated questions. Try to also look through the important diagrams once before the exam to seamlessly revise.
