NIT Jamshedpur Location
Nestled in Adityapur at the border of Saraikela-Kharsawan district and East Singhbhum district in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, the institute is surrounded by well-known industries such as Tata-Steel, Telco, Indian Steel Wire Products, Tata Tubes, Tinplate Company, Tata Timken, etc. The National Metallurgical Laboratory, Xavier Labour Relations Institute, and National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology in Ranchi are some nearby institutes.
Our Take:
Students have voiced that the location is good, but the conveyance is nothing special to boast about. There is no airport in Jamshedpur and Tatanagar Railway Station is at a distance of 8.5 km. Moreover, the institute is located at a distance of 9.5 km from Jamshedpur's main bus stand, not to mention that the nearby marketplace is at a distance of 6-7 km, indicating inconvenience for the hostellers. According to the students, the most preferred route is from Ranchi via ‘not-so-smooth’ NH-33.
NIT Jamshedpur Expectation vs Reality- CLD Verdict
NIT Jamshedpur has its own reputation of being one of the most preferred institutes for engineering courses. However, out of 31 NIT’s, NIT Jamshedpur comes in at 26th place in the NIRF Ranking 2023 in the engineering category. As per online reports, NIT Jamshedpur stands at 15th place on the basis of placement out of all NIT’s. In terms of faculties, students are satisfied with the quality of teaching. As the exams are entrance-based, a limited number of students are enrolled in the courses. Even though reports show that more students are enrolled than the sanctioned intake, the student-to-faculty ratio is satisfactory, signifying that students get the needed personal guidance. Conclusively, taking into account all the factors mentioned above, NIT Jamshedpur falls somewhere in the middle among the 31 NIT’s.
