The 262-acre sprawling campus provides the best infrastructure in the northeast and all the necessary facilities. Tezpur University lives up to students' expectations in terms of diverse courses, a robust curriculum, ample exposure, research facilities, and a holistic learning environment. It also represents the well-balanced male-to-female ratio of 54:46.
A total of 71 courses are offered under the umbrella of Tezpur University at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, and doctoral levels. Tezpur University has been ranked in four categories of the NIRF ranking, which is commendable! However, a constant decline is clearly visible in the overall, university, and engineering rankings. We must question: Why is it so? One of the reasons can be a lack of effort to maintain the standard of the university. Therefore, the university can pay more attention to better its rankings through analyzing the scope of improvement in areas like student intake, academic facilities, research facilities, academic expenditure, placements, etc.
Tezpur University Academia & Batch Size
Tezpur University uses a multidisciplinary approach to provide a holistic learning environment for its students. It follows the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) which comprises open electives. It provides students with enough flexibility in their choice of Tezpur University courses as per their interests. The performance of students is measured through their Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). It corresponds to a comprehensive and cumulative assessment of students’ academic progress.
The pedagogy includes theory and practical approaches such as classroom teaching, laboratory sessions, projects, assignments, industrial visits, international visits, and internships. Indeed, Tezpur University offers impressive infrastructure and facilities with a wide scope for students to learn, explore, and get exposure. The availability of library facilities for 365 days really helps students, especially research scholars. The internet facility on campus further adds to the convenience of students, as they can access all the required study materials at their fingertips. However, the compulsory hostel and mess expenses can burn a hole in some students' pockets.

According to the NIRF 2023 report, Tezpur University’s placement percentage for the 2021-22 batch is 54%. Furthermore, 46% of UG (4-year) and 17% of PG (2-year) students were placed. However, no student from UG (3-year) and PG (1-year) has been placed which is a little disappointing.

Considering the smaller batch size of Tezpur University, the placement percentage is relatively low. It appears that Tezpur University’s placement cell isn’t efficient enough to provide decent job opportunities to its students. The placement rate across different programmes is quite disappointing. While students praised the available internship opportunities, the lack of adequate and quality placements defeats the entire purpose. The university must improve in terms of placements to make itself a more career-oriented university, which is the need of the hour.

Tezpur University has a promising regional presence and a good gender ratio. It is commendable that a large number of female students find the university fit for higher education. However, it lacks in terms of interstate and international diversity. There can be various reasons for the low diversity at Tezpur University, such as location, popularity, batch size, and individual preferences.
Tezpur University Faculty/College Administration & Management
Tezpur University is a mixed bag in terms of faculty and administration. Our research finds Tezpur University’s faculty team is experienced and generally student-friendly, while experiences with administration may vary. The majority of student interactions with faculty appeared positive. However, there were few mentions of incidents that could be changed to improve classroom comfort and engagement.

Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, located in Guwahati City, is the nearest airport. It is around 200 km away from the Tezpur University campus. Just too far!
