Chandigarh University Opens Free and Open Source (FOSS) Centre in Association with IIT Bombay

Chandigarh University's University Institute of Computing in collaboration with Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay Inaugurated Free and Open Source (FOSS) centre at the university campus.

To bring the students & faculties at par with the existing market technologies, the Chandigarh University's University Institute of Computing in association with Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay set up a FOSS centre to promote the IT literacy throughout the country. It is the first centre to be set-up in aPrivate University of North India.

An initiative of National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India, this Spoken Tutorial Project is an advantageous commencement of the ‘Talk to a Teacher’ activity.

Main benefits the centre is likely to provide are -

• The Spoken Tutorial aims to provide its spoken tutorials on FOSS available in a number of Indian languages to ease the learner's experience.
• It will make the faculties and students undergo training in a range of upcoming technologies through online mode.
• Eminent academicians from IIT's, IISC's & more, and various big names from top notch Industries will be the resource persons.
• They who will be sharing knowledge from their mammoth Research and Expertise with the learners.
• Even individuals from Engineering and Non-Engineering backgrounds can hone their technical skills while learning in this spoken tutorial course.

On successful completion of the course, the participants can avail the certificate, which is valid globally.
