DU's College of Vocational Studies May Soon Offer PG Courses
College of Vocational Studies has announced that UGC has allowed offering Masters in Vocational Courses in different fields. The increase in the demand for vocational courses led to the same decision.
The University Grants Commission has allowed the College of Vocational Studies of the University of Delhi, to provide the students with a postgraduate course in vocational courses. Sources state that the college will work upon the postgraduate courses for those students who wish to pursue a higher education course in the area of vocational studies as well as research work in the area.
The Principal of the college, Inder Jeet Dagar stated that College of Vocational Studies is one of the Delhi Universities that has been granted approval for setting up a Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Centre for Kaushal. He further added that with the help of the centre, the college will be able to draft and launch postgraduate programmes in Vocational Studies as well as undertake research work in the same.
College of Vocational Studies presently offers a wide variety of vocational courses at the undergraduate level which includes Human Resource Management, Office Management and Secretarial Practice, Marketing Management and Retail Business, among many other courses. In total, there are 600 seats that are available for the students to fill up in the different courses at the undergraduate level.

Dagar informed that Vocational Courses have been receiving a lot of attention lately, as the students are becoming more career-oriented than before. She added that the students who have pursued a course any of the vocational courses find it easier to get a job than other students, as the courses as skill-based courses, which are on high demand in the corporate world. She stated that the Vocational Course in Human Resource Management has been their flagship course at the institute, so much so, that the cut-off lists were as high as 90% in last year’s admission process. She also stated that the number of female candidates being enrolled under the courses has also been increasing over the years.

An assistant professor from the College of Vocational Studies stated that the students are becoming more career-oriented than before. He adds that to help the students get what they wish for, the college provides the students with the management-oriented programmes that are focused on providing the students with the professional knowledge that will help them combat the situations they will face in the corporate world. Sources state that the college will also provide the students with subjects such as Computer Science, Economics, and History.
