IIIT-H Introduces Post-doctoral Entrepreneurship Programme
A new programme has been introduced for the candidates who will be completing their Ph.D. programmes by the Ojas MedTech Incubator within Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad.
A new programme has been launched by the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad’s (IIIT-H) Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). The programme is the Ojas Post-Doctoral Entrepreneurship programme which is focused on providing a platform for those students who are in the process of completing their doctoral programmes.
Ojas is a MedTech incubator within the centre of innovation and entrepreneurship and is aimed at helping companies who wish to build technology-based answers to the problems faced by the modern healthcare industries. The programme under the Ojas MedTech incubator has been launched with the aim of providing the students with the training which will focus on creating the technology-based solutions for the issues arising in the industry.
The Ph.D. scientist will have to select a professor from the Institute who will help the scientist in his/her work. The supervisor for the Ph.D. candidate can also decide to be an associate in the product if the idea of the product is based on the research thesis of the candidate. With an option of extending for one more year, a stipend will also be provided for 12 months.

By the end of the programme, the scientist would need to take their product forward while incorporating a company. A 25 lakh seed finding will also be available to the company when the product gets incorporated. A large number of investors will also be provided to the entrepreneur. Candidates who will be giving their research thesis in 2019, will be allowed to apply for the programme, lastest by the 1st October 2019. Candidates must send in their applications by 25th April 2019.

The head of Innovation and Strategy at Ojas, Dr. Radha Rangaranjan has stated that the programme’s objective is to help the Ph.D. candidates with a stepping stone to gradually transition to entrepreneurship from academics. The programme is also designed in such a way that the candidates who pursue the programme will be able to use their knowledge and skills to create products that will help the healthcare industry.
