IIT Bombay to Hold a Condolence Meet for Alumnus Manohar Parrikar
The condolence meeting will be held on 25th March 2019 at the IIT Bombay campus. The ceremony will start at 5 in the evening at P C Saxena auditorium of the campus.
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) is going to hold a condolence meeting on 25th March 2019, Monday, for the Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar. The Chief Minister died on 17th March 2019 after fighting an illness for a long time. He was an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, therefore, the institute is organizing this condolence meet so as to pay tribute to the revered minister.
The meeting will begin in the evening at 5 p.m. and the venue is the P C Saxena auditorium on the campus of IIT Bombay.
Manohar Parrikar was 63 when he died. He had also been India’s Defence Minister since 9th November 2014. He died on Sunday in the evening while he was at his private residence in Goa. Parrikar had been battling with a pancreatic ailment for over a year before he succumbed to it.

Parrikar had addressed the 55th convocation ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2017. In his speech, he urged the graduates to go for jobs in the development and social sectors. He had also asked them to join politics and the Indian Army.

Manohar Parrikar had graduated from the prestigious institute in 1978 after completing his B.Tech in metallurgical engineering . He was elected as the Chief Minister of Goa three times. His last tenure started from 14th March 2017 till his death. Manohar Parrikar was a distinguished alumnus of IIT Bombay.
