“Early Graduation” Option for IIT Delhi Final-Year Students
Other than the Early Graduation option rolled out by IIT Delhi, the students can also opt for the regular graduation option in which the graduating students can resume their studies as and when the regular classes commence.
To ensure that the lockdown does not impact the future plans of the graduating batch students, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has decided to offer them an “ early graduation ” option. The IIT-D’s “early graduation” option programme is exclusive only for those students of the institute who have less than one semester to go for graduation which is subject to changes once the coronavirus crisis is over. The IIT Senate approved the policy.
The director of IIT Delhi V Ramgopal Rao while explaining the programme said that the graduating batch students will have two options to choose from. They can either opt for the “early graduation” process or opt for the regular graduation process. The “early graduation” process will take place by the end of June month. He also added that the students are most likely to be back at the campus from 02nd July onwards.
Students who will opt for the “early graduation” option will be given two choices - credit and audit pass or fail. If the students choose “credit”, they will have to take online tests, assignments, home exams and telephonic viva-voice. In the “audit pass or fail” option, the instructors will declare the process and cutoff considering the coronavirus related constraints.

Everything related to the “early graduation” option will be done in online mode.
In case a student fails to graduate by the end of June, he/she will have a fallback option through which he/she will graduate as and when the semester resumes. The director also added that every minute pointer will be kept in mind while deciding upon the pass and fail percentages to make sure none of the students suffer unduly due to the current crisis.

The central Government of India announced a nationwide lockdown during the last week of March which was recently extended till 30th June in the containment zones only. Normal services have resumed.
