Jharkhand to Get its First Medical University

Jharkhand government is all set to upgrade the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) into the first medical university of the state. Banna Gupta, Health Minister, informed that the medical university is known as Jharkhand Medical University and the draft for the same has been finalised. However, the project will take some time to get completed.
According to him, TN Gupta said the Medical University will be a new milestone for the state in the field of medical research. Over the past few years, it has been witnessed that Jharkhand has been facing a shortage in terms of medical human resources. Once the medical university is set up, it will not only cater to the needs of medical aspirants but will also bring a positive change int the field of medical advancement and research. Students will not be required to go to other states to pursue their medical studies.
Currently, there are three medical colleges in the Jharkhand state and three more will be established in Bokaro, Koderma, Chaibasa. The existing medical colleges are unable to cater to the needs of all the medical aspirants due to which students move out of the state to pursue higher education. The medical university in Jharkhand has a detailed plan to address such problems.
He further informed that the objective of the state is to bring reforms in medical education and to focus on quality research in the medical field to be at par with other renowned institutes of the country.
