The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) that is conducted to shortlist aspirants for the posts of lectureship or assistant professor in an institute or university in Karnataka is unlikely to be held this year.

The University of Mysore (UoM), the body which is responsible to conduct this entrance has been waiting for the renewal of its status for holding the test from the University Grants Commission (UGC).

UGC had appointed UoM as the nodal agency for the conduct of this exam in the year 2016, the status of which is renewed every three years. Reports say that the university has already applied to UGC to reinstate its status to be able to conduct K-SET. Even so, UGC is yet to respond to the same. Hemantha Kumar, UoM’s Vice-Chancellor reported that the university is waiting for a UGC committee to visit and assess and review their status. Only after the successful assessment can they conduct the KSET exam.

The university has been organizing the exam since permission was granted in the year 2016. Evaluating the assessment includes determining the total number of students passed and overall results.
