Maharashtra Govt. to Start PG Medical Courses in Nashik from Next Year

The Maharashtra State health department issued a government resolution on July 22^nd that MUHS (Maharashtra University of Health Sciences) and the health department will start PG medical courses in 11 subjects in Nashik. The deputy director of State Health Department, Ratna Raokhande and the MUHS Vice-Chancellor Deelip Mhaisekar will soon sign an agreement for the start of the PG courses.

Kalidas Chavan, MUHS Registrar informed that 100 seats will be available for the Nashik PG medical courses from the next academic year ie.e. 2020-21. It is said that two hospitals of Nashik namely super speciality hospital and the civil hospital will be used for teaching PG students. These hospitals are government hospitals and have excellent infrastructure and enough beds for conducting the PG medical course. For the PG medical courses, the authorities of the two hospitals need to provide classrooms, open theatres, etc according to the Government Resolution(GR).

An MUHS official said that this is a blessing for both the students and patients. The Maharashtra State government, in order to issue the license for the PG courses, will invite MCI to do a proper inspection. The MUHS officials are positive that the demand for these PG courses will be on the top as many undergraduate medical students will be interested in this course.

This initiative is led by Medical Education Minister of Maharashtra, Girish Mahajan who also happens to be a guardian minister of Nashik. Due to this, there will be a rise in the numbers of PG courses available in Maharashtra in the next academic session.
